Lim et al support statin treatment in stages 4 and 5 of chronic kidney disease in Korean patients with acute myocardial infarction. We reported improvement of renal function related to clinical (cardiovascular events) benefit in patients with stable coronary heart disease and chronic kidney disease up to stage 3. The Treating to New Targets trial confirmed these findings. We also reported benefits in primary prevention. Therefore, statins seem to offer protection in terms of vascular events across several stages of chronic kidney disease and in coronary heart disease ranging from acute myocardial infarction to stable coronary heart disease and primary prevention.
