Background

This study was performed to evaluate the feasibility of same day early discharge after transradial percutaneous coronary intervention.

Study Design

This was a descriptive observational study.

Study Design

This was a descriptive observational study.

Place & Duration of Study

The study was performed at the Department of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology of Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore from October 2008 to March 2009.

Methods

Non-probability purposive sampling was used and a total of 400 patients were enrolled. Those with non ischemic Allen’s test underwent transradial intervention. Patients with negative reverse Allen’s test and absent radial pulse were excluded from the study. The procedure was performed with small French sheaths and catheters in most cases under local anesthesia. The sheaths were removed after the procedure and patients were discharged the same day after PCI. The procedure site was inspected before discharge. The patients were followed after 6 months for major adverse cardiac events.
