Late recoil of three different drug-eluting stents measured with intravascular ultrasound at six months post-successful angiographic results




Background


An adequate stent expansion is achieved with high pressure stenting which has reduced the rate of restenosis and thrombosis. Stent recoil increases the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. We don’t know the late recoil percentage.




Objective


The objective was to measure the late recoil percentage of 3 different drug-eluting stents (DES) with intravascular ultrasound at six months follow-up.

Methods


From March to October 2010, 33 patients of the “real world” with 42 lesions were included. At 6 months angiography and IVUS were performed (iLab and/or Volcano). We calculate the stent recoil, dividing diameters, and areas measured between the diameters and areas specified by the manufacturer.




Results


The results are presented in Table 1 .
