The 23 rd ASE Annual Scientific Sessions took place on June 30–July 3, 2012 at the Gaylord National Hotel, National Harbor, MD. The Pediatric and Congenital Track of the program was jam-packed with cutting edge science, imaging pearls, and hands-on instruction to benefit all members of the pediatric and adult congenital echocardiography community. The popular staples returned: the Saturday pathology-echo-surg-ACHD congenital symposium; Pediatric Echo Jeopardy; the Fireside Chat; case presentations; oral abstract sessions; and the always entertaining controversy debates. We helped unveil the mysteries of some of the newer echo technologies and showed how expert centers apply them in clinical practice.

There was a full serving of Adult Congenital topics throughout the meeting, with relevant sessions on each day. Finally, there was a full fetal program, which helped satiate both experts and novices alike. We had an entertaining Pediatric Jeopardy competition, which had an international contingent and included sonographers on the teams (Figure 1). There was a special Fireside Chat where Norman Silverman was interviewed and honored for his substantial contributions to the field of pediatric echocardiography (Figure 2).
