Recently, I was walking in the corridors of Baylor University Medical Center and suddenly was stopped and asked by a very kind man, “I understand, Dr. Roberts, that you have my heart?” He was Mr. Melvin A. Jones, who had undergone heart transplantation (number 437) at Baylor University Medical Center in 2003. I told him, “Of course I have your heart. We keep these specimens for various studies.” We arranged for Mr. Jones to come to the weekly cardiac pathology conference, and accordingly he saw his heart ( Figures 1 and 2 ). Mr. Jones is asymptomatic and is living a very active life. He indicated that he has had 5 new grandchildren since his heart transplantation!
