Pulmonary Emboli


Case 2: A 83-year-old male with recurrent dizziness and acute renal failure. During the admission, he became unresponsive and acutely short of breath which resulted in an emergent intubation and mechanical ventilation. A TTE revealed normal LV systolic function; RV and IVC were dilated. Transesophageal echocardiography showed a large embolus in the main PA (Videoclip 26.1 c,d). The PA systolic pressure was 55 mmHg.
