Introduction
Atrial fibrillation (AF) whether paroxysmal or permanent is associated with increased risk of thromboembolic ischemic stroke and use of antithrombotic therapy reduce stroke risk This study was aimed to determine the frequency of newly detected AF using 24-hour Holter ECG after ischemic stroke and identify clinical predictors for AF.
Materials and Methods
Sixty-seven patients with acute ischaemic stroke who have sinus rhythm on rest ECG and who have not arrhythmia history were prospectively investigated to detect paroxysmal AF (pAF) using 24-hour Holter ECG. Baseline clinical characteristics are demonstrated in Table 1.
