PP-080 Global Longitudinal and Circumferential Strain and also Epicardial and Endocardial Torsion Properties of Left Ventricle is Deteriorated in Patients with Behçet’s Disease

Aim

Behçet’s disease is chronic inflammatory disease which is associated with ulceration or inflammatory infiltration of various types of mucosal or visceral tissues. Since it is a multi-system disorder involvement additional organs is highly probable. It could be consequence with either subclinical or clinical pericarditis, myocarditis, and endocarditis, and etc. We aimed to evaluate LV strain patterns by speckle tracking imaging in order to document the involvement of myocardium.

Material-Method

Totally, 34 patients with Behçet’s disease and 20 healthy control subjects with normal LV systolic function were enrolled to the study. We performed strain analysis of LV by speckle tracking imaging and calculated the global longitudinal and circumferential strain, endocardial and epicardial twist, and endocardial and epicardial torsion properties of LV.

Results

We found that LV global longitudinal strain (-23,00±1,86 vs -18,91±1,50, p<0.001) and LV global circumferential strain (-22,10±1,29 vs -18,63±1,64, p<0.001), endocardial torsion (2,15±,44 vs 1,77±,33, p0.001) and epicardial torsion (2,17±,56 vs 1,86±,40, p=0.021) was significantly reduced in patients with Behçet’s disease while other parameters did not present any significant difference.
