OP-083 Serum Galectin-3 Concentration is not Related to Left Ventricular Mechanics in Adult Patients with Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot

Background

Right ventricular (RV) dilatation and dysfunction due to pulmonary regurgitation after surgical repair of tetralogy of Fallot (ToF), results in abnormal left ventricular (LV) myocardial mechanics because of ventricular interaction. The aim of this study was to compare galectin-3 concentration in adult patients with repaired ToF and controls and determine its relation with LV myocardial mechanics assessed by speckle tracking echocardiography.

Methods

Forty-two patients with repaired ToF, and 31 age and sex-matched healthy controls were studied. All patients underwent echocardiography and blood samples for galectin-3 analysis were collected simultaneously. Left ventricular longitudinal, circumferential and radial strain and torsion were analyzed using speckle tracking echocardiography.
