Defined Location of Acute Myocardial Infarction by Two-D Strain Echocardiography Compared with Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Discussion

Experimental studies have demonstrated that regional wall motion abnormalities can be visualized echocardiographically within 5–10 beats after coronary legation [1]. In these studies, functional changes can be observed to precede the development of ECG abnormalities. In clinical studies, stress-induced ischemia functional changes precede both ECG changes and pain.
