Correlation between VEGF and the severity of non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome

Background

VEGF is a key regulator of angiogenesis. It is thought to be implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic plaque neovascularization and thus promotes its infiltration by inflammatory cells with subsequent destabilization.

Aim

The aim was to investigate the level of the vascular endothelial growth factor in patients with acute coronary syndrome and whether it is correlated with the severity of the disease and the short in-hospital prognosis.
