Chronic kidney disease may raise the risk of cardiovascular events by increasing the number of coronary yellow plaques angioscopic study

Objective

The objective was to compare the number of yellow plaques in a coronary artery between patients with and without chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Background

Chronic kidney disease is an independent risk of cardiovascular disease. We have revealed that the number of yellow plaques is an independent predictor of future cardiovascular events. We assumed that CKD might raise the risk of cardiovascular events by increasing the number of yellow plaques.
