Right Ventricular Diastolic Patterns
Abnormal
If E/A ratio — <1.0 and E′/A′ < 1.0, mild (Stage I) diastolic dysfunction is present.
E/E1 ratio — > 6.0 & deceleration time (ms) < 120 suggest elevation of RV filling pressures.
If E/A ratio — <1.0 & S < D on hepatic flow, moderate (Stage II) diastolic dysfunction is present.
If E/A ratio — <1.0 & ↑ S reversal on hepatic flow in the absence of severe TR, severe (Stage III) diastolic dysfunction is present.
Right Ventricular Systolic Function
1. TDI at the level of the TV annulus of the RV free wall – value of <10 cm/s identifies the presence of RV dysfunction with a Sn of 90% and Sp of 85%.
