Re: Drug Eluting Balloon in bifurcation

We would like to update our recently published case report “Repeat instent restenosis of drug eluting stents in a bifurcation treated successfully with kissing drug eluting balloons” published in the November 2012 issue . The patient was originally treated with 2 balloons in a repeat bifurcation stent restenosis on June 2011 ( Fig. 1 ).

Final result of Drug Eluting Balloons PCI June 2011.

The patient was admitted again at the end of December 2012 with pulmonary edema and non ST elevation MI. This was 17 months after the kissing drug eluting balloon procedure, and 2 months after the publication.

A trans-thoracic echocardiography showed normal left ventricular ejection fraction and severe aortic regurgitation. Repeat catheterization showed a totally occluded restenotic LAD and more than 90% restenosis at the ostium of the diagonal ( Fig. 2 ).
