PP-181 Anxiety and Depression Scores in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes

Introduction

The relation of negative emotions such as depression and anxiety with cardiovascular disease has been reported in numerous studies. In patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD), it has been demonstrated that depression is strong predictor of cardiovascular events. We aimed to investigate the anxiety and depression status difference between ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (STE-ACS) patients and Non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) patients.

Material and Methods

We prospectively included 165 patients who hospitalised with a diagnosis of NSTE-ACS or STE-ACS to Istanbul University Institute of Cardiology between January 2015 and April 2015. Patients divided into two groups due to initial diagnosis as NSTE-ACS and STE-ACS. The anxiety and depression status of patients was measured with Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) scale. IBM SPSS Statistics 20 was used for statical analyses.
