PP-147 Assesment of Left Ventricular Myocardial Performance Index in Patients Who Underwent Percutaneous ASD Closure Devices

Objective

Echocardiographic measurement of left ventricular function in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) is challenging. The Doppler myocardial performance index (MPI) may provide a method of assessing function in these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate left ventricular (LV) function and its changes after transcatheter closure in patients with ASD using MPI by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI).

Methods

We prospectively examined 22 consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous transcatheter closure of secundum ASD from June 2013 to December 2014. MPI defined as the sum of isovolumic relaxation and isovolumic contraction time divided by ejection time, was measured by tissue Doppler imaging Measurement of time intervals and MPI with TDI were performed in 22 patients with ASD before closure, and 1 month after closure. SPSS 12 was used for statistical analysis.
