PP-139 Assessment of Tpe, Tpe Dispersion, Tpe/QT and Tpe/QTc Ratios as Novel Markers of Ventricular Repolarization in Subclinical Hypothyroidism

Background

Thyroid disorders have many unfavorable effects on the cardiovascular system. The Tpeak–Tend interval (Tpe), Tpe dispersion (Tped), Tpe/QT and Tpe/QTc ratios are new ventricular repolarization markers and their increase is associated with increased mortality. The aim of the present study was to evaluate these new ventricular repolarization markers in subclinical hypothyroidism (SH).2

Methods

32 patients with marked SH (median age 43 [19-54] years) and 27 healthy volunteers (median age=41 [25-67] years) were enrolled. Tpe interval, Tpe dispersion, QT and corrected QT intervals (QTc), QT dispersion (QTd), QTc dispersion (QTcd), Tpe/QT ratio and Tpe/QTc ratios were obtained from the 12-lead electrocardiogram. These markers were compared between groups.

Results

QTc, QTcd, Tpe, Tped, Tpe/QT and Tpe/QTc ratios were significantly increased in SH patients compared with the control subjects (respectively, p= 0.019, 0.02, < 0.001, < 0.001, < 0.001, < 0.001). There were significant positive correlations of Tpe, Tped, Tpe/QT and Tpe/QTc ratios with TSH values (respectively, p< 0.001; r= 0.7, 0.63, 0.66, 0.7).

Conclusions

QTd, QTcd, Tpe, Tped, Tpe/QT, and Tpe/QTc increase in patients with SH. There are correlations between these markers and TSH values.
