Umbilical artery catheterization has become the standard of care for arterial access in neonates, and also leads to wide spectrum of complications. Broken and embolised catheter fragments had been rarely reported in these patients. We report a case of successful transumbilical retrieval of a broken umbilical arterial catheter with a gooseneck snare catheter under fluoroscopic guidance in a 28-week gestation, 1000 gm male infant.
