Introduction
The diagnosis and management of vascular lesions in the neck is challenging task that requires multidisciplinary approach. The diagnosis and treatment of these lesions is still evolving with high morbidity. So this rarely seen clinical entity still remains difficult to diagnosis and management. We have reviewed our experience with vascular tumors of the neck over a period of 10 years.
Patients and Methods
16 patients (aged 40.53±12.89, range 17-61 years) referred to our university hospital clinic with a vascular tumor and/or a mass in close proximity to carotid artery between 2005 and 2015 were reviewed. Hospital records, early and midterm follow-ups were reviewed upon Institutional Scientific Committee approval from each author’s institution. Our standard approach included diagnostic angiography of the mass to yield its possible arterial supply from carotid arteries. Microcoil-embolization of the perfusing artery was performed in all cases within 48 hours of surgery.
