Objectives
Left atrial appendage (LAA) morphology has a role in initiation and maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF) and has been shown to be the major source of thromboembolism. Data on LAA morphology in Turkish population is lacking. Our aim in this study is to determine LAA morphology in AF patients who were evaluated with cardiac computed tomography (CT) prior to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with cryoballoon.
Methods
249 AF patients who were scheduled for cryoballoon- based PVI, who were pre- procedurally evaluated with cardiac CT were included. LAA morphology was categorized into following groups: chicken wing, cactus, windsock, or cauliflower.
