PP-107 Precordial Thump; Just a Myth or a Lifesaver in Malignant Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia?

Precordial thump; just a myth or a lifesaver in malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmia?

Background

After occuring of ventricular fibrillation or pulseless ventricular tachycardia; mortality rate is increased by % 7 to 10 for each minute delay of defibrilation or cardioversion. because of this reason our study has aimed to show efficiency of precordial thumb. (pt)

Methods

The study included 98 patients who were hospitalized in coronary care unit (between january 2013 and april 2014) because of acute coronary syndrome(n=66) and congestive heart failure (n=32). During hospitalization when a malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmia was occured, we used pt before defibrillator got ready. If the pt failed, cardioversion or defibrillation were used to stop the arrhythmia.
