Objectives
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an acute emergency with high mortality and morbidity rates. The monocytes / high density lipoprotein (HDL) ratio (MHR), was suggested as a new marker of inflammation and oxidative stress. In addition, MHO has been shown to be closely related with the presence and prognosis some of cardiovascular disease. Inflammation and oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathophysiology of PE. The aim of the present study was to determine the prognostic value of the MHR for short-term mortality for patients with acute PE.
Methods
Nighty- nine patients who were admitted to the emergency department and diagnosed acute PE which was confirmed by multidetector computerized tomography were included in this study retrospectively.
