Objective
Rate of patients with resistant hypertension is steadily increasing among hypertensive patients and this is in association with severe morbidity and mortality. In this study, we aim to compare vitamin D levels which are recently found to be closely related to blood pressure in resistant hypertension (HT) patients with the levels found in controlled hypertension and normotension groups.
Methods
The study was performed in three groups which consist of resistant HT, controlled HT or normotensive patients. Besides medical history, routine biochemical tests, vitamin D levels and office blood pressure levels, ambulatory blood pressure was measured in order to differentiate white coat HT and masked HT.
