PP-029 The Relationship between the Red Cell Distribution Width, Pulse Wave Velocity and Augmentation Index

Objective

Red cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with the severity of coronary artery disease, acute stent thrombosis, stent restenosis and inadequate collateral development. The relationship between the RDW and the markers of arterial stiffness such as aortic pulse wave velocity (AoPWV) and augmentation index75 (Aix) is still unknown. The aim of the study is to find out whether there is any association between RDW, AoPWV and Aix.

Methods

Healthy 33 voluntary-male individuals between the ages of 18-50 were admitted to cardiology outpatient clinic. RDW was measured by complete blood count. Body composition was assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis using the Segmental Body Composition Analyser (Tanita Corporation). AoPWV and Aix were calculated by TensioMedTM arteriograph. Relationships between variables were analyzed with Pearson’s correlation method.
