OP-180 Serum Uric Acid Levels is Elevated in Patients with Myocardial Ischemia Detected by Gated Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography

Objective

Cardiovascular diseases are substantial cause of morbidity and mortality. The main cause of myocardial ischemia is coronary artery disease (CAD). Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), is an appropriate tool for early detection of CAD and myocardial ischemia. Increased uric acid concentrations are associated with oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, subclinical atherosclerosis and an increased risk of cardiovascular incident. We investigated whether serum uric acid (SUA) is a predictor for myocardial ischemia using exercise Tc-99m tetrofosmin SPECT.

Methods

The study population included seventy patients with myocardial ischemia (group 1) consisted of 70 subjects (35 men and 35 women, mean age: 58 ± 11years) and sixty-three patients healthy (group 2) consisted of 63 subjects (27 men and 36 women, mean age: 59 ± 8 years). Blood samples of all of the groups were analyzed. The all patients underwent a two-day stress/rest single photon emission tomography with gated (G-SPECT) study using adenosine with a standard weight-based infusion protocol. Abnormal perfusion, motion and thickening were defined as a score of ≥ 2. The summed stress score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS), and summed difference score (SDS) was calculated based on conventional 17-segment model.
