OP-135 Relationship Between Serum Galectin-3 Levels and Atrial Electromechanical Delay in Patients with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Objectives

Left atrial (LA) interstitial fibrosis is known to have a role in the initiation and maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF). Although the role of galectin-3 in the pathogenesis of cardiac fibrosis has been demonstrated before in heart failure patients, link between galectin-3 and atrial fibrosis is still not clear. Atrial electromechanical delay (AEMD) is a non-invasive echocardiographic method to evaluate atrial remodeling. We aimed to determine whether serum galectin-3 level correlated with AEMD in paroxysmal AF patients with preserved left ventricular function.
