OP-134 Renal Function Reflected with Serum Beta-trace Protein Level is an Independent Predictor of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation




Objectives


Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice. Epidemiologic studies have reported an increased prevalence of AF with increasing age and comorbidities such as renal dysfunction. Beta-trace protein (BTP) is a novel biomarker of renal function. We aimed to compare BTP between healthy control subjects and patients with paroxysmal AF (PAF).




Methods


100 patients with PAF (53.0 ± 6.7 years, 55.0% male) and 100 age and gender- matched healthy subjects (54.0 ± 6.88 years, 54.0% male) were included in the study. All subjects had normal renal function (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] >60 ml/min per 1.73 m2). Serum BTP levels were measured by ELISA and compared between two groups.
