OP-064 Association between Coronary Artery Ectasia and Hematologic Parameters

Background

Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) has been established as a localized or diffuse non-obstructive lesion of the epicardial coronary arteries. Atherosclerosis plays an important role the etiopathogenesis of CAE. Inflammation markers may play a part in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. From that point of view we aimed to assess the association between CAE and hematologic parameters.

Methods

The study population consisted of the patients who underwent coronary angiography with a doubt of coronary artery disease (CAD) at our institue. Consecutive eligible patients (n=101) were divided into 2 groups: patients with CAE, and those with a normal coronary angiogram. The whole groups were compared with age, body mass index, lipid profiles and fasting levels of glucose. Also, hematologic parameters were measured as part of the automated complete blood count.
