OP-058 Pattern of Hypothyroidism in Ischemic Heart Disease Patients among Indian Population




Aim


The association between overt hypothyroidism and coronary artery disease has been often observed in many studies. Less evident is the data on asymptomatic hypothyroidism without clinical manifestations and with mild elevation of thyroid stimulating hormone. The aim and objective of this study was to identify the pattern of Hypothyroidism among the patients with Ischemic Heart Disease who were admitted in a tertiary care centre over a period of eighteen months.




Methods


It is a prospective observational study of 1200 patients with Ischemic heart disease who were admitted in a tertiary care centre over a period of 18 months from 1st August 2012. Inclusion criteria includes Ischemic heart disease, confirmed by EGG changes, cardiac marker, coronary angiography. Hypothyroidism was confirmed by thyroid function study.(TSH, T3, T4, anti thyroid antibody) and FNAC of the nodule whenever indicated. Exclusion criteria includes patients age over 70 years, the presence of other endocrine diseases(except Diabetes Mellitus -Type 1 & 11), functional disorders of other organs (chronic renal failure, liver failure) and patients on Amiodarone causing Hypothyroidism.
