OP-043 Comparison of Transcatheter Atrial Septal Defect Closure in a Novel Approach to Cross the Defect Versus the Standard Approach

Objectives

The aim of the study was to compare an innovative transcatheter closure (NoC) in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) with the standard closure (StC).

Methods

In this retrospective study, one hundred and twenty-eight consecutive patients were categorized StC-group by receiving standard closure and NoC-group by receiving innovative transcatheter closure. Transthoracic echocardiography was used to measure the diameter of atrial defects and selected well-matched occluder. The novel step of our study was that the delivery sheath containing the occluder crossed the defect from right atrium to left atrium directly without guidewire. Patients were followed at 1, 3, 6 and 12 month after the procedure.
