Background

Several animal and human studies have suggested a relationship between dyslipidemia and leukocyte subsets. Because of it’s role in LDL cholesterol oxidation and inflammatory pathways particularly monocyte-dyslipidemia relations have been investigated. In this study we aimed to find if there was any association of LDL cholesterol levels with leukocyte subsets.

Method

Among the data of Istanbul Medeniyet University Goztepe Training and Research Hospital Internal Medicine Clinics, LDL cholesterol levels and complete blood count results of recently admitted consecutive patients were recorded. Univariate analyses of the correlation of leukocyte subtypes and LDL cholesterol level were performed.
