OP-029 Effect of Hypertension on Regional Myocardial Performance and Probnp Levels in Early Imaging Biomarker of Hypertension

Background

We recently have shown in mice using 3rd generation microscopic USG that basal septal hypertrophy (BSH) is an early imaging biomarker of hypertrophy in physiologic and pathologic stress (Circulation 2011;124:A12802). We planned to investigate whether plasma pro-BNP levels are affected by the early stage of hypertension-mediated stress.

Methods

Fifteen hypertensives with BSH (mean age 57,1±10,6 years; 5 women) and 15 normal controls (mean age 59,5±11,5 years; 4 women) were included. Isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRT), preejection period (PEP) and ejection time (ET) of BS and basal lateral (BL) were determined by tissue Doppler imaging and myocardial performance index (MPI) calculated using Tei-index formula.
