Indication for Surgery in Aortic Diseases

The Indications for Surgery for Thoracic Aneurysm Include:



  • The presence of symptoms.
  • A diameter of 50 to 60 mm for an ascending aortic aneurysm and 60 to 70 mm for a descending aortic aneurysm; often ≥70 mm in high risk patients.
  • Accelerated growth rate (≥5 mm per year) in aneurysms.
  • Evidence of TypeA dissection.
