Pediatric Echo Jeopardy is always a huge hit at the Scientific Sessions. This year four teams represented different regions that included: Team Midwest: Christopher Statile, MD and Thor Thorsson, MD ; Team Pacific: Grace Kung, MD, FASE and Manatomo Toyono, MD ; Team Texas: Shaine Morris, MD and Robert Tunks, MD ; and Team Southeast: William Border, MB, ChB, MPH, FASE and Carolyn Taylor, MD, FASE .

Past President James Thomas, MD, FASE, answered questions about Hemodynamics during “Chalk Talks” on Sunday morning. Four different sessions took place during ASE 2016 that provided an opportunity for participants to get answers from luminaries in the field of echo.

Larry Sobal, MBA , Executive Vice President of Business Development for MedAxiom, presented the preliminary results of the Society’s first comprehensive study of Echo Labs. This joint study gathered information from across the U.S., encompassing both large and small private practices and hospital systems. This view of the organizational and transformational practices in labs is a captivating view of the patient care system. The survey provided much-needed baseline metrics for the field.

New in 2016, Echovation Challenge was a competition where three teams presented process and workflow innovations that have either been adopted or are in development in echo labs throughout the U.S. and across the world. Here, the winning team, EchoPlan, is presented with the ceremonial check by Echovation Challenge Chair, Steven J. Lester, MD, FASE (right).
