Commonly used antiepileptic medication for IV administration. Side effects include hypotension and arrhythmia when given IV (must be given slowly IV). Multiple drug interactions

Lamotrigine (Lamictal®)

Few significant drug interactions. May lower oral contraceptive efficacy

Levetiracetam (Keppra®)

Few significant drug interactions

Valproic acid (Depakote®)

PO, IV

Recommend discussion with pharmacist or neurologist to convert from PO to IV. IV dosing uses valproate sodium. Drug interactions with azoles, warfarin

Phenobarbital

PO, IV

Recommend discussion with pharmacy to convert from PO to IV. Multiple drug interactions

Carbamazepine (Tegretol®)
