Patient Position


 


  • The patient’s head should be elevated at least 30 degrees.
  • Patients need frequent turning to prevent pressure ulcers on bony prominences.

DVT Prophylaxis


 


  • Prophylactic doses of either low molecular heparin or unfractionated heparin when possible.
  • Sequential compression devices in patients who cannot receive heparin products.

Stress Gastritis
