LV Hypertrophy

Relative Wall Thickness (RWT) = 2 × LVPWd/LVIDd,

RV Dilatation
- RV sharing the apex in the 4-chambers view.
- RV larger than LV in the subcostal view.
- RV nearly equal or larger than LV in the precordial views.
- RV size ≥ the 2/3 LV size in 4-chambers view – RV mildly dilated.
- RV size = the LV size in 4-chambers view – RV moderately dilated.
- RV size > than LV size in 4-chambers view – RV severely dilated.
LA Volume Index (LA volume/BSA)
| Normal | 16–28 ml/m2 |
| Mild dilatation | 29–33 ml/m2 |
| Moderate dilatation | 34–39 ml/m2 |
| Severe dilatation | >40 ml/m2 |

where:
D1 and D2 are diameters of the LA in parasternal long and short views.
A1 is LA area in 4-chambers view.
A2 is LA area in 2-chambers view.
L represents length of LA in 4-chambers view.*
* The L in 2-chambers view should not differ by >20%.
