ASE Board of Directors and leaders gather at the annual conference. President Sanjiv Kaul, MD, FASE addresses ASE’s 2010 Scientific Sessions. William A. Zoghbi, MD, FASE of the Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center in Houston, TX and ASE Past President gave the 2010 Edler Lecture, “Echocardiography: A 2020 Vision.” Feigenbaum Lecturer Victor Mor-Avi, PhD, FASE of the University of Chicago, IL with ASE’s first president and founder, Harvey Feigenbaum, MD, FASE. The lectureship is awarded to a young investigator in recognition of significant contribution to research. Dr. Mor-Avi’s lecture was titled “3D Echocardiography: The Benefits of the Additional Dimension.” Itzhak Kronzon, MD, FASE, Professor of Medicine and Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at New York University Langone Medical Center in New York, NY ( right ) was the recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award. His extensive career has included more than 1,500 lectures worldwide; over 400 peer reviewed manuscripts; mentor positions; and editing and review roles for publications. He has also played an important part in ASE initiatives through his work on writing groups, committees, taskforces, the ASE Board of Directors, and on ASE educational courses. D Haim Shmilowitz ( left ) from Tel Aviv, Israel, a current fellow in cardiac imaging at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, CA, read a letter from Dr. Gadi Keren, President of the Israel Cardiology Society of which Dr. Kronzon is a member, at the Awards Gala. 2010 ASE Meritorious Service Award recipient Harry Rakowski, MD, FASE of the Toronto Hospital, Ontario, Canada, with Immediate Past President Roberto M. Lang, MD, FASE. Dr. Rakowski has played an instrumental role in various contract negotiations, with the Scientific Sessions, and in Society management.
